Update - HG Jesta w/ base jabber

Finished the Base Jabber to go with my HG Jesta kit. No decals for the Jaber yet. The 2 kits are a fun combo and the Jesta is right at home on the Jabber as seen in the Unicorn OVA. Jesta Decals are from Samuel Decal.

Progress on 1992 1/24 scale Toyota pickup

Here's some updates to my contest entry for the Spring contest at Scale Model Addict.

Tried something new with the exhaust by painting it burnt. Started with black then vallejo model air steel and over that I used tamiya clear blue/yellow/orange for the burn marks. I then used Tamiya smoke color to blend all the tones together.

Here are the wheels. they were chrome plated out of the box. I stripped the chrome and used Alclad 2 polished aluminum over the Alclad black gloss primer.

Here's an interior shot...

Mounting the fender flares.

Dashboard detail...

inner door panels.

Working on the body now. need to do some putty work on the flares(gaps between flares and wheel wells)...I hope to be done by the deadline.

Hilux progress

Did some part clean up and priming of the chassis and driveline parts for the 1992 Hilux model by Aoshima.

I'm using Vallejo Model air primer and paints on the kit. I'm also using the Vallejo Chipping medium. Don't know if I like it. Seems to leave the area that is wet and chipped with a gloss finish after the "chipping" is done. hopefully when It will even out when I flat coat the kit and add some weathering.

Checking fit

Primed

Rust color base coat

I didn't like the finish of the chipping medium... was kinda thick and it sprayed thick... looks ok.

HGUC JESTA

Finally finished my HGUC Jesta. Took a while but finally had a little time after i finished drawing the last issue of GIJOE season 2.

I mixed a dark navy blue using Vallejo Model Air Blue with a little black and a pinch of Orange. The light gray blue was a mix of Vallejo USA Gray+ blue and a little white. The rifle is Vallejo Gun Metal for the body and Vallejo Steel for the Magazine. Metal joints and frame pieces are Vallejo Steel. Decals are from Samuel Decal. I had some silvering on a few but overall i'm happy with the result and look of the decals.

some seams are still visible. I'm not entering this is a show so didn't putty or hide seams too much.

I couldn't find my charger to juice up the batteries for the DSLR so used my iphone for the pictures. Hopefully I'll find the charger and take better pics.

I'm looking forward to the Master Grade version of this suit. I like it a lot.

00 Raiser- Modest Progress

I'm almost done with the main body of 00. Just need the head and arms.

Spraying white acrylic is my least favorite thing about this kit. It's either too thin or thick and sprays splattery all over the kit. I don't have that trouble with any other color. White probably has more solids in it and needs more thinning i guess.

This kit is my first real attempt at pre-shading and it looks ok. I did have trouble with a few of the tiny dry transfer decals and ruined a few of them. I definitely prefer the waterslides.

After the 00 I need to paint the 0 Raiser. I think in the end this kit will look ok.
